Week 6 Prompt Integrated Advisory - Horror
Integrated Advisory - Horror
I love video games and think they would be fun to incorporate into a multi-format endcap display. We currently do not own / loan console games, but it will happen soon... because all the cool libraries are doing it, aka peer pressure.
My proposal for a horror display is based on the "used and abused" but highly popular zombie concept. Resident Evil 2 has just been remade and re-released and is trending like crazy. This game is hardly alone. Zombie horror games have been and are still very popular; Left 4 Dead, Left 4 Dead 2, The Last of Us, Dead Island, and Plants vs, Zombies are just a few of the many titles available. Throw in some zombie movie / TV show blu-rays; The Walking Dead, World War Z, Zombieland, I am Legend, the legendary Dawn of the Dead etc.
Use Horror Zombie Fiction Books for the bulk of the display. This could include:
Patient Zero - Jonathan Maberry
World War Z - Max Brooks
Feed - Seanan McGuire
Day by Day Armageddon - J.L. Bourne
...there's no shortage of zombie horror fiction titles. We could substitute some audio-book versions for print versions to spice up the formats even more.
Add a pinch of Graphic Novels:
Pandora: End of Days
The Walking Dead Compendium
Zombies: A Brief History of Decay
..and you end up with a integrated advisory Zombie Horror endcap display.

I like the zombie display idea! We have done a Walking Dead lock in with the youth and it was so much fun. Our library does not circulate games so that is really cool that you do that. I like that you included so many different types of media. We don’t have options for end cap displays either. Wish we did!!!
ReplyDeleteZombies are a crowd favorite! I remember back when Zombieland came out on DVD my hometown library did a zombie display and passed out twinkies with and zombie books that were checked out. Those people who had not scene the movie and did not understand the reference were then intrigued to see what twinkies had to do the with movie and they were curious/encouraged enough to check out the movie and find out for themselves!
ReplyDeleteI love the twinkie idea!!
DeleteGreat idea, it may be "used and abused" but only because it's still so darn popular! Great idea and full points!
